How to love someone.

(download)
  1. Forgive yourself, because He already has.
  2. Love him or her as you would love yourself.
  3. Accept him or her for who they are. You're not going to change them and more importantly, who are you to judge?
  4. Don't hold back. True love is bottomless and never dries up.
  5. Enjoy life and be happy. Because Love is all you need.

why geeks are hot.

The following post is something I wrote on my other website www.polkadotmonsters.com. Thought I'd share it here as well.

I've always thought geeks are hot. They're smart, have a passion and can hold a conversation - what's not to like?

Then I started telling people around me that I thought geeks are hot. And they all gave me strange looks (well, most of them did). Some asked, "With the specs and all?", and then tell me I'm odd for liking geeks.

Most confuse geeks with nerds, who are a whole different breed. Don't believe me? See this venn diagram - it perfectly explains in succinct terms what the difference is.

A geek may be obsessed about computers, books, music or even plants - but because of this he is intelligent (at least in a certain field) and since everyone knows the sexiest part of the body is the brain, this is of course, extremely attractive.

So I hereby stand vindicated, everyone!

My friends fortunately, agree with me; so this post is for the rest of you who give me strange looks!

love note

this is what a man does, in no particular order.

  • bring you breakfast/lunch/dinner/supper in bed
  • give you unsolicited back rubs so that you'll relax and sleep better
  • laugh at your nonsense and stupid antics
  • make you laugh
  • isn't afraid to be stupid and laugh at himself
  • tells you he loves you, and means it
  • does not overdo number 6
  • wants you to stop hurting yourself
  • keeps you warm
  • the little things

an all-time favourite

now this, to me, is the best love there is, the kind i fully relate to, the kind that endures.

Sonnet XVII
Pablo Neruda

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.

A Quiet Poem
Frank O'Hara

When music is far enough away
the eyelid does not often move

and objects are still as lavender
without breath or distant rejoinder.

The cloud is then so subtly dragged
away by the silver flying machine

that the thought of it alone echoes
unbelievably; the sound of the motor falls

like a coin toward the ocean's floor
and the eye does not flicker

as it does when in the loud sun a coin
rises and nicks the near air. Now,

slowly, the heart breathes to music
while the coins lie in wet yellow sand.

settling down

why does it have to mean getting married? and having babies? and spending your weekends and days cleaning up spit and cooking for your husband?

why does one have to get married before 30? why is 30 the benchmark?

why do i have to make a decision now? or soon?

why is it that it's not acceptable to live life as you want to?

why does growing up mean settling down?

what does settling down mean?

does it mean you play less, work more?

do you sacrifice fun for practicality?

if you don't acquiesce or oblige, does it mean you're ungrateful and selfish?

does it mean you're a bad person?

does it mean you did the wrong thing?

why does being different mean being judged?

why is it wrong to want to do more?
